In the interest of getting a conversation started on Thursday, here is an idea to start with. (I think there is some merit in this, but I think we will find some flaws, as well.) Let's take a look at it and then start throwing darts.

Proposed: that students' projects need to fulfill 3 of the 4 categories:


  1. Research and Prepare with Web Tools
  2. Use Web 2.0 tools to collaborate with others outside of the classroom, perhaps outside of Kinkaid
  3. Demonstrate mastery of a stand-alone or web 2.0 application
  4. Make a positive contribution to one's digital footprint

These are basically the core skills from before, with the first two condensed into one category. Each of these categories has minimum levels - It is not hard to think of things that sort of qualify but don't take much effort or familiarity with technology.
